Homeschool Sewing Basics
learning how to transform existing items into something new while developing practical skills
Service Description
This sewing class students will focus on creativity, sustainability, and growing confidence while working with a sewing machine. Students will learn how to transform existing items into something new while developing practical sewing skills in an enjoyable, supportive environment. Students will use **pre-loved and recycled fabrics or garments** to design and create new pieces. Through guided projects and open-ended experimentation, they will build confidence with the sewing machine while exploring how old materials can be given a fresh purpose. During the term, students will: - Strengthen confidence and independence using a **sewing machine** - Learn how to deconstruct and remake existing clothing or textiles - Experiment with design, customization, and creative problem-solving - Create unique, upcycled projects to take home and use or wear The class balances skill-building with fun and encourages students to take creative risks. By the end of the term, participants will have a strong sense of achievement, improved machine skills, and original “old to new” creations that reflect their personal style.
